Kevin Shaw, CSI is a highly respected colorist, consultant, and instructor, bringing nearly four decades of expertise in color grading for films, TV, commercials, and music videos. As the President of the Colorist Society (CSI) and a co-founder of the International Colorist Academy (ICA), Kevin's passion and knowledge have profoundly influenced the industry.
Finalcolor opened in 2004 allowing Kevin to work worldwide. Kevin's career began in the 1980s as a colorist in London, where he quickly made a name for himself with his creative work on music videos and commercials. Kevin then moved to Milan, Italy, then Zurich, Switzerland, as Head of Telecine. By the early 1990s, Kevin had become the preferred instructor for da Vinci, and in 1998 he joined da Vinci Systems in Florida as Director of Training. He managed the da Vinci Academy and contributed to product design until 2004, when he started Finalcolor. In 2009, he co-founded the International Colorist Academy (ICA) to share his knowledge and experience with a new generation of software colorists. In 2012, Kevin played a key role in building a new facility for the BBC for digitization, compliance editing, and restoration and stayed on as Lead Technologist and Head of Restoration. Kevin is enthisiastic about color management and works closely with the Academy for ACES and he was an early adopter of HDR and Dolby Vision.
Today, as the Head of Color at Mission, Kevin continues to pursue excellence in color science, influencing and educating the next generation of colorists. He has worked in over 45 countries and has taught at institutions such as NFTS, DFF, AFTRS, Tallinn, and Serbia, as well as for organizations like the Apple, Amazon, BBC, CBS, Dolby, Netflix and Sky. Kevin's dedication to color science and his unwavering commitment to nurturing future talent make him a trusted and revered figure in the industry.
